“Ice” Rakchanok Srinok, a member of the People’s Party, who has been leading the fight against corruption in independent organizations, becoming a key figure in Bangkok, posted on Facebook two days ago.

She thanked Damrong Puttan and Narakorn Tiyan, two famous hosts who acted as village representatives, for speaking out about the responsibility of the high-level executives of the State Audit Office regarding the building collapse that resulted in 109 deaths and injuries.

Ice used piercing words, Miss Fine, where she posted that being a citizen of this country is tiring… really tiring for those who are working to make our country better. But no matter how tired, we must continue to help each other.

Ice’s points were: 1. The 2017 Constitution nowhere grants the people the power to initiate the process of removing independent organizations, even though it was possible in the past. Those not from the people are hard to investigate.

Moreover, they cannot be removed, hence the need to sue them personally like this. But even if they cannot be removed, if tens of thousands of people join together to report as the two hosts did, it would be quite interesting.

2. What has the government done? The answer is setting up a committee that initially said it would conclude in 7 days but kept extending. The current progress is unknown to anyone.

The whole country should know that setting up a committee is a delay tactic to wait for the matter to lighten, the trend to disappear, and finally, no one is interested anymore, then disperse. I would like to ask the government to be more sincere and serious… The government can do more than just setting up committees. You have everything you need in your hands.

Now, let’s seriously discuss amending the constitution to limit the power of independent organizations to make their origins and removals linked to the people, can we?

Ice left it at that and pasted the message Narakorn posted on her page, thanking all the unexpected encouragement sent after filing a complaint at Bang Sue Police Station.

Narakorn’s message stated that after watching the clip where the Governor of the State Audit Office gave an interview coming out from the NACC committee, she smelled confidence from the words: I’m definitely safe, I have all documents blocked, I’m an organization that checks others, no one can check me, I hold documents, regulations, laws as shields, I know legal loopholes that can’t reach me, I don’t care about society’s feelings, news can’t do anything to me… blah blah blah.

She asked herself all night: Doesn’t anyone have to take responsibility for this? Until she concluded that she could file a complaint to accuse, then wrote a message for the lawyer to read before adding the charge of neglecting to perform duties that must be done to prevent corruption in all affairs of the State Audit Office.

Then she went to Bang Sue Police Station, but coincidentally, the producer of the show “Clear Clear” called her, advising that she couldn’t go alone, she had to invite people from the media industry to go with her. So she picked up the phone to invite Damrong Puttan, who shared the same views, to go with her, with media from all agencies to cover the news…

Miss Fine said it might be time for Thai people to express their rights and duties as good citizens in dealing with these kinds of people, who, honestly, have never even shown sorrow for the incident that happened, only protecting themselves from wrongdoing.
